The Prestigious Haitian Music Awards (PHMA) is seeking experienced, knowledgeable, and independent professionals to serve on the PHMA 2027 Judging Panel.

PHMA judges play an important role in recognizing excellence, talent, creativity, and achievement within Haitian music, entertainment, media, sports, and culture.

We welcome qualified professionals from Haiti and the Haitian diaspora who are passionate about the industry and committed to maintaining the credibility and integrity of the awards.

WHAT DOES A PHMA JUDGE DO?

PHMA judges may be responsible for:

  • Reviewing eligible submissions
  • Evaluating nominees
  • Applying official PHMA category criteria
  • Assessing artistic and professional achievements
  • Participating in nomination discussions
  • Scoring or ranking eligible entries
  • Providing professional opinions when requested
  • Maintaining confidentiality throughout the judging process
  • Supporting a fair and credible awards process

Judges must evaluate candidates based on merit and the official PHMA criteria.

JUDGE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should demonstrate:

Professional Experience
Relevant experience and knowledge within the music, entertainment, media, sports, or cultural industry.

Industry Knowledge
A strong understanding of the Haitian music and entertainment landscape.

Integrity
A commitment to honesty, fairness, transparency, and professional ethics.

Independence
The ability to evaluate nominees objectively without allowing personal relationships or outside interests to influence decisions.

Confidentiality
The ability to protect confidential information regarding submissions, nominees, scores, discussions, and voting results.

Professionalism
Respectful and professional conduct throughout the PHMA judging process.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Applicants must disclose any relationship or personal, professional, financial, or other interest that could reasonably affect their ability to judge a particular category objectively.

A judge may be required to recuse themselves from evaluating a nominee or category when a conflict of interest exists.

PHMA reserves the right to determine whether a conflict requires recusal.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All judges are expected to maintain strict confidentiality.

Judges must not disclose:

  • Confidential submissions
  • Internal judging discussions
  • Individual scores
  • Preliminary results
  • Voting information
  • Confidential nominee information
  • Other non-public PHMA information

Confidential information must not be shared with artists, managers, labels, promoters, media outlets, family members, friends, or other third parties.

JUDGING PROCESS

The PHMA judging process may include several stages:

STEP 1 — APPLICATION

Qualified professionals submit an application to become a PHMA judge.

STEP 2 — REVIEW

PHMA reviews applications and professional qualifications.

STEP 3 — SELECTION

Selected applicants are invited to join the PHMA judging panel.

STEP 4 — ORIENTATION

Judges receive information about the applicable rules, categories, evaluation criteria, confidentiality, and conflict-of-interest requirements.

STEP 5 — EVALUATION

Judges review eligible submissions and evaluate nominees according to the official criteria.

STEP 6 — VERIFICATION

PHMA may review judging results to ensure that the process has been conducted according to established procedures.

STEP 7 — FINAL RESULTS

Final results are determined according to the applicable PHMA judging and voting procedures.

Becoming a PHMA judge is a position of trust and responsibility.

Judges are expected to act independently, fairly, professionally, and respectfully and to protect the integrity and credibility of the Prestigious Haitian Music Awards.

Serving as a PHMA judge does not guarantee employment, compensation, nomination, award consideration, or other benefits unless expressly agreed to in writing by PHMA.

PHMA reserves the right to approve, reject, replace, or remove judges when necessary to protect the integrity of the awards.
